Geo Explorer

GeoExplorer is an innovative educational tool designed to enrich civil engineering education through interactive simulation. Sponsored by the NSF, this mixed reality game focuses on levee inspection and cone penetration testing, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. By offering detailed, real-world scenarios and environmental effects, GeoExplorer promotes interactive learning, enhancing user engagement and understanding. It serves as a valuable resource for instructors and students alike, facilitating hands-on experience and fostering engineering judgment in geotechnical engineering courses.

My Contributions

As a versatile member of the GeoExplorer team, I played a critical role in leading the Development, Quality Assurance, and refinement of this educational simulation, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. My responsibilities spanned several key areas:

  • Software Development & Programming: I contributed to the core development of the simulation, focusing on creating realistic scenarios for levee inspection and cone penetration testing, which are crucial for civil engineering education.

  • Quality Assurance: I ensured the simulation's reliability and user-friendliness through comprehensive QA processes, identifying and addressing potential issues before release.

  • Debugging & Bug Resolving: Identified and fixed numerous issues, contributing to the overall stability and functionality of the simulation.

  • Tutorial Creation: I developed an intuitive tutorial that guides users through the simulation's features and functionalities, making it accessible to users of all levels.

  • Enhancing Interaction: I was responsible for improving the interactions between the drone and the player, adding functionality to the in-game phone, and contributing to design decisions that significantly enhanced user engagement and the overall learning experience.

  • Through these contributions, I helped shape GeoExplorer into a powerful tool for interactive.
